Students develop such skills as posture, bowing and fingering techniques, reading music and musical articulation through mentoring and practice.
What will I learn in this class?
Students build and develop correct posture, bowing and fingering techniques. Experienced students focus on advanced articulation through mentoring and practice. All levels of musical experience are welcome.
What are the benefits of class?
One-on-one musical sessions are customized to each student’s needs and personality. Learning the violin also helps students develop a deeper appreciation for music.
Who will teach this class?
Motoko Tokoro is a concert violinist with experience performing in Japan and the US as a solo, chamber and studio musician. She graduated from Kunitachi College of Music and the University of Southern California, where she earned her master’s in music. She has taught students of all abilities and ages and can advise students who wish to purchase a violin.
Hana Hatakenaka is a concert violinist and violist with experience in Japan, Europe and China. She graduated from Tokyo College of Music and earned her master’s degree at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has performed with the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra and as well as the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
